Established in 1973, INFORM prides itself on more than three decades of providing practical solutions to environmental issues. In the early years, we made our mark as a research organization. Through the 1970s and into the 1990s, INFORM studied emerging environmental issues, identified potential solutions to those problems, and published more than 100 reports that assisted the public and private sectors in thinking, and often acting, differently. Over the years, these reports had significant impact and earned us widespread recognition and multiple awards.

Beginning in the mid-1990s, to evolve with new perspectives on the best way to conduct environmental advocacy, INFORM began to shift from using research and report writing as our primary driver of change to engaging more directly with business and industry. In February 2007, we completed an incisive internal and external assessment and strategic planning process, from which we emerged with a revised mission, vision, and approach to promoting environmental stewardship.

Today, INFORM's mission is to enable business and industry to safeguard natural resources and human health through practices that make environmental stewardship and economic progress mutually attainable. We envision a sustainable future when natural, human, and economic systems thrive in harmony.
