The Harmonized Sales Tax

On April - 6 - 2010
Intro

How it works

On July 1st the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) will be eliminated. On that date, you’ll see the 7% B.C. rate join the 5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) to give us a total HST rate of 12%. This is the lowest in Canada.

The HST approach is far simpler, more transparent and fair. And for the majority of goods you use, you won’t pay a penny more tax because of the HST. Read more.
In the meantime, the Canada Revenue Agency is holding seminars across the province to help businesses prepare for the HST. Find out if the seminars stop in or near your community.
