What sounded like a done deal when first announced more than a year ago seems to becoming a hostile takeover as Nestle completes its sale of Alcon to Novartis. Alcon is one a a very small number of purely ophthalmic companies, although it had become a part of Nestle, who really shared nothing in common with it. Being taken over by Novartis, which has an eye presence and different product lines from Alcon, seems like a good fit but the Alcon board may be starting to feel otherwise.
